It seems every riding location around Australia has a local pinner or an up and coming kid who shreds. We had a quick chat with Darcy Grooby, an 18 year old kid who started riding in 2011, as a lot of us do he started on dirt jumps before turning his bike down some trails and getting the downhill bug. A few years later and we have a genuinely nice guy who can win a state level Under 19 downhill race by an easy 4 seconds such as what happened at Fox Creek earlier in 2014!

Getting down to business but keeping things enjoyable, an important balance for any racer.

We ran into Darcy through the racing scene where he has been racking up some impressive results.

However Darcy's skills aren't just limited to a downhill bike,he's also a proficient dirt jumper and enduro racer!

Darcy is pretty laid back and always looks like he's having fun.

Darcy has been racing the GESA races (that is the Gravity Enduro South Australia races FYI) as a bit of fun but also for training. With the 2014/15 national series in his sites this will be invaluable. Along with the enduro riding as training Darcy gets out to ride cross country most days and hits the gym 3 times a week.

If you talk to a lot of 'pros' they will tell you that dirt jumping is one of the best ways to get your downhill skills up to scratch.

He's clearly not afraid of a little moisture.

Darcys home town of Adelaide has some hills but nothing you would describe as a mountain! Thredbo and Mount Buller are a lot more technical and the endurance level required is a lot higher. However, as Darcy points out when you have these 2 – 2.30 minute tracks you need to hold your line as the more time you spend holding your lines the better. Coming back from VicDH and Australian National rounds Darcy feels less stressed at the local races where the vibe is more relaxed and having fun is high on the list of priorities!

Inside Line is the home of Connor Fearon and Troy Brosnan, two of the fastest riders in the world and being so accessible has seen Darcy want to emulate Connors hang loose style of going fast but still having fun. As he looks to step up his riding Darcy this is the kind of attitude Darcy would like to have, Darcy normally rides with his mates such as Jake Adams and this backs up the still having fun attitude.

Darcy sights Connor Fearon and his riding style/attitude as an inspiration.

There you have it, an Inside Info and hopefully a little more insight into a local pinner! Darcy is a unassuming character but look out for him at the upcoming National Series.

No pain no gain.

Darcy has a good style in the air, no doubt the dirt jumping helps with this.
