Inside Info: Connor Fearon – Windham

Coming off a good result at Mont Saint Anne I had the bar set high as far as my results go. I have been looking forward to this race all season the track is short and fast which suits me fine! The race track is in Windham about two hours out of New York City. Windham itself is a small town with a few hillbillyas and USA flags. Everybody in the town seems to support the World Cupas that get held there which is good to see!

The track this year is pretty much the same as last year. The track was dry and dusty to the point it was really slippery! I liked the track and enjoyed every practice run I did on it. I wanted to qualify top 30 again and I put down a solid qualifier only making one mistake in the rock section down the bottom. I ended up 29th giving me some confidence for racing on Sunday.

Hot and dusty! So dusty it was slippery, Connor still enjoyed it though, no doubt the conditions reminded him of home. Photo: Jacob Gibbins

On race day the track was quilt silty and some sections were deep with dust. The morning of race day Matty my mechanic put cut down Maxxis Wet scream tyres on my bike to help conquer the dust. After doing one run I felt they were an advantage so I kept them on for racing. My race run was a little bit more wild than usual. I made a mistake before the first split and another big mistake near the bottom which set me back a few positions. I finished in 42nd which I am honestly disappointed with. I knew I could have done a top 30 result if I had a good run. Thatas just racing I suppose! My overall result has improved to 34th Iave set a goal to make it top 30 overall by the end of the season so Iall be working on that for the last two World Cups! Stay tuned.

There is a aAslight break before the next World Cup but as Connor said ‘stay tuned!’
